The Wangfest was in full effect as fashions's latest ingenue, 16 year old Kaia Gerber, stepped out onto the concrete runway in a perfectly angelic white party dress, kicking off what was certain to be a night of after after parties, as only wild child Alexander Wang can provide.
Set on a lonely street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the sidewalks were overrun by screaming fans eager to catch a glimpse of the celebrities in attendance. A star powered runway, full of Wang muses such as Bella, Kendall, Suki, Joan, Mica and Anna Ewers was the reward for the hour long wait attendees endured.
When the show did start, it was by way of a model packed party bus, emblazoned with Wang hashtags, and the fun began.
The collection continued Wang's love of casual chic clothing, adding deconstructed and layered elements, such as sweatshirts that were half silk camisole and cut off jean shorts attached to leather pants. There was baggy ripped denim, military jackets and pants, and several pieces with built in "ties" made to look like a shirt was tied around the waist. Adidas made an appearance, as Wang is a collaborator with the sportswear brand, and headbands took on a new heights as tall, feathered pieces advertised Wang-isms such as "party animal" and "secret location" adorned model's heads.
Wang has retained his Master of the Cool Girl status season after season, morphing runways into epic events and parties, making his one of the hottest tickets during fashion week. But no matter how exciting the show, it's all about the after after party. Party on, Wang.
