Creative director Stuart Vevers wants girls to have fun. In the latest show held at New York Fashion Week earlier today, he was able to showcase his meaning of style and decadence with a collection that left the audience speechless and eager to wear every garment.
Three words: feminine, cool and retro; these are the key adjectives needed to describe this dynamic and vibrant piece of art. Walking confidently on a glitter-covered catwalk, models wore authentic American pieces, some casual like the varsity jacket, some others more classic like prairie dresses. An interest point is that every single piece, from the cowboy shirt with leather inserts to the lingerie dress with a lace-trimmed hem, was ‘glamed-up’ with satin, sequins and fur, almost a recall to the American history with a touch of elegance. The director admitted to have been particularly inspired by the magic of New York City for this year’s show; the set was, in fact, recalling the streets and views of the city, with recreations of rooftops, mailboxes and even an antique car.
The celebration of American (and in particular New York) heritage wouldn’t be complete without an acknowledgement to the culture – Coach gladly embraced the values promoted by artist Keith Haring and reinvented his works on a few outerwear and leather pieces. Zipped, raw denim was also a new entry, always recreated following the Americana style: high-rise and bootcut.
Definitely a big success, recorded live by the biggest personalities in the fashion blogosphere, who showed their enthusiasm in their Instagram stories. We are all looking forward to an Americana twist four our closets.
