Dries Van Noten has become the go-to designer for bloggers and Parisian it girls, creating garments that are statement pieces just as much as they are easy and wearable. The ss18 collection showcased the designers’ ability to just that, make clothes that aren’t fussy, just nice. A vibrant printed tank with tiny rhinestone embellished straps layered over a sheer nude top, created just enough pop and felt subtle and when paired with cuffed denim. Silky kimonos made tapered trousers feel young and fresh and the use of layered scarves on tops, dresses and even fly away skirts was puzzling but beautiful. Updated versions of the cult classics, Dries has become popular for included an oversized brown plaid blazer draped in a flesh colored tulle adorned with crystal broaches, the oversized boxy coat in plaid with a single broach closure and several all over printed pajama like suits. It has never been the intention of Dries Van Noten to capture the younger customer but the brand continues to please the millennial crowd with ease. This collection has a sense of maturity laced with elegance and knowledge of the industry and trends much like the blogger scene has matured. It blends all the elements of cool with sophistication and uniquely bold prints sure to capture the lenses street style photographers all over.
