It is true: when a door closes, a bigger one - and more fabulous - opens. After we heard the terrible news of Marc by Marc Jacobs ending, a new path has been unlocked for the masterminds Katie Hillier and Luela Bartley, the creative director and womenswear design director of MBMJ, respectively.
Hillier Bartley – now the official name- launched their first clothing line 10 days ago, and it is so much more than we expected. A clear reflection of both their personalities, their fall/winter collection is eccentrically inspired by the modern-indie-classic English women.
The ready-to-wear contemporary line goes from bags, dresses, jackets, skirts, pants, to jewlery and shoes, mostly in leather, silk, merino wool and velvet fabrics, and the results are stunning with a girlish-tomboy attitude.
Even though they have worked together in different ways for more than 15 years, they clearly know how women are and who they want to be, so it's not surprise the detail and design on this particular collaboration seems natural, bold, playful, and dynamic as the London duo.
