WHEN ROMANCE MEETS VERSATILITY

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI HAUTE COUTURE S/S '16

A trip to the '60s was the main element in the new spring 2016 collection of Giambattista Valli. The fashion show debuted on Paris' runways last week right after the unforgettable couture moment at the Golden Globes where one of his incredible creations was worn by the iconic J.Lo.

However, for a women under the light of a feeble springy sun (instead of the red carpet spotlights), this season, the Italian designer decided to focus his collection around daywear vibes. In fact, the mood of the entire show was " easygoing and eclectic" as Valli has been quoted.

Focusing on the retro romantic vibe, the main elements in the show were colourful, nature-inspired prints with florals, cherry blossoms and bugs. All mixed with baby pink, orange, beige and vermilion nuances. Silk chiffon dresses and blouses, with gorgeous lace at the end, were full of frills. But all the frou were equilibrated by sportier pieces, such as metallic tweed jackets and sequined knitwear. The trouser silhouettes were recalling a late ’60s and early ’70s style and wool crepe flare pants were cut either to the floor or the ankle.
So Valli concentrated his attention on daywear for this Spring collection and even if the romantic theme was at the centre of every piece, the designer didn't forget his iconic, original touch. His typical eclectic and eccentric style was what had spiced up all the creations in order to respect the brand DNA.
